Artifact reskin

I have completed the quest for the artifact GS. have credit. I bought the reskin pattern and tried to use it on all of my thrust weapons and it gives me this message: "This item is not compatible with such appearance". This is on all my thrust weapons and it never works. I stood by the pattern crafter just to see if it would make a difference. Nothing. Am I doing something wrong here? I had people in game try and help but they have no clue why its not working. Suggestions?....am I bugged in game?
