Guardian Aggro Range

Hi,

There is a guardian NPC by the Infernalists in Briefine (Loc 45k,46k).

Measuring out my max distance of longshot (2500 range +4% spell range = 2600), without firing, I destealthed, and he immediately aggroed on me. Is this the correct range to have an NPC aggro without being engaged in combat?
